Dir.Alabama.gov is the official website for the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations, and is also a site for unemployed workers who want to file for the Alabama unemployment claims online.

How to file for unemployment benefits in Alabama?
1. You can file it on line or over the phone. If you prefer to file your AL unemployment compensation claim over the phone, you can call the Claims line at 1-866-234-5382. This phone number is only working on regular business days from 7 AM to 4:30PM (Central Time).If you would like to file your Alabama unemployment compensation claims online, you need to pay a visit to https://dir.alabama.gov/uc/ICCS/. 2. On the webpage, there are 6 items that you can choose from. If you want to file for a new claim or reopen a previous claim, you should select the 1st item on the list and you will be led to the claim online filing page. Please be aware that the webpage is not always available since they only accept new claims from Sunday at 12:01AM to Friday at 5 PM. So please make sure that you visit the site during their working period.

3. Before you start, make sure that your web browser’s settings meet their requirements. Otherwise the web page may not function properly. Also you should check whether you are eligible for the UI benefits first. For instance, if you don’t have wages in at least 8 months of your base period that is the first 12 months of the last 20 months from your claim filing date, you may not be eligible for the benefits. To qualify to file the UC claim, you have to meet all the Alabama unemployment insurance benefits requirements found on their website.

4. To file the Alabama UI benefits claim, you will need to provide the following information including your social security number (SSN), your address, previous employment date. You also need the state government issued ID document or your driver’s license to verify your ID. All these items are required for all the applicants. If you are a previous military personnel or a non-citizen, you may need other documents such as DD214 and work authorization number respectively.
